Cartoons take centre-stage at the library in April!
During the month of April, the City of Saint-Lambert invites citizens to the library for the Gros plan sur la BD event, which will showcase the “9th art”: cartoons.
The event will feature three activities intended for both the curious and avid fans. They will have the chance to discover several aspects of this art and literary form.
- Exhibit: Zoom sur la BD et le roman graphique (zoom into cartoons and graphic novels)
From April 15 to May 5, during opening hours
This exhibit will present a range of cartoons and graphic novels for adults, revealing the richness of the 9th art.
- Talk: Le roman graphique, petit frère de la BD? (the graphic novel, younger brother of the cartoon? (in French)
Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m.
This talk by Ghada Belhadj, a bookseller at Le Fureteur, will introduce you to the graphic novel from its earliest beginnings to its most recent forms. Registration required in person at the library or by calling 450-466-3910.
- Meet the authors: La femme aux cartes postales (in French)
Saturday, April 28, at 1:30 p.m.
Authors Jean-Paul Eid and Claude Paiement will reveal the inner workings of this graphic novel, which takes us back to the cabaret days of Montreal, a time when jazz was king. Sketches, script, archival photos and artifacts will be used to illustrate the talk. Registration required in person at the library or by calling 450-466-3910.
These activities are made possible thanks to financial support from the Québec government and the City of Saint-Lambert as part of the cultural development agreement signed by the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications and the City of Saint-Lambert.
