2024 Green Squad report: a busy summer without rest
Published on 24 Sep 2024
The Ville de Saint-Lambert Green Squad team was once again deployed throughout the territory this summer, and the results of its 2024 summer season are positive.
Crisscrossing the streets of the municipality, the team went door-to-door to inform and educate citizens on various environmental issues, and accomplished a colossal amount of work.
Watering
The students recorded 141 cases of watering that did not comply with regulations. 487 residents received a letter about water air conditioners, and 65% of them responded.
Forestry
The Green Squad team took part in 6 buckthorn and ragweed removal operations. Data on 24 plant species were collected in 61 green spaces. In addition, 347 citizen calls and e-mails were returned, 654 trees inventoried and 349 requests closed.
Over 35 Public Works employees were educated by our students on topics such as poison ivy, wild parsnips and Lyme disease.
Residual waste
In all, patrollers handed out 1060 door hangers to remind people of certain instructions relating to the collection of organic waste, garbage and recyclables. They inspected 5770 bins to identify recurring problems, such as the use of plastic bags for organics, the presence of green residues and construction materials in the waste bin, and the incorrect positioning of these materials.
The team also led educational workshops at day camps and set up booths at various events.
The Ville de Saint-Lambert would like to thank the Green Squad for its hard work over the summer. It also invites citizens to keep an eye out, as they will certainly be able to see it again on the territory next summer.
