Budget 2025

At its special meeting on December 2, the municipal council tabled the Ville de Saint-Lambert's 2025 budget.

Despite a 6.73% increase in the agglomeration's co-sharing and a new property tax roll with an overall increase of 30%, the increase in the tax bill will be limited to 2% for the average home.

“The agglomeration share, which makes up more than half of our tax bill, is putting ever-increasing pressure on us. Our challenge is to maintain a balance between our total tax bill and maintaining a quality service offering. Once again, we had to be very rigorous and questioning in order to achieve this budget, and we are very proud of it under the circumstances,” declared Mayor Pascale Mongrain.

The budget therefore stands at $74,225,170, an increase of 5.68% compared with 2024. It includes property taxes for services provided by Saint-Lambert, the agglomeration of Longueuil and the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal.

For residences, this translates into a tax rate of $0.7270 per $100 of assessment, down from $0.9372 in 2024. This reduction offsets the impact of the new assessment roll. The increase in the tax burden for the average single-family home, valued at $1,082,569, will therefore be limited to $154 for 2025.

The 2025 budget does, however, maintain a number of measures. These include:

  • Extending free public transit to all seniors by offering them “Accès 65 Hors Pointe” monthly passes;
  • Increased budget for the organization of recreational and cultural events (Fêtes de Saint-Lambert, family celebrations, neon evening, winter fun, etc.).

Some of our services will be enhanced:

  • Extended opening of the Seaway pool thanks to the new water heater;
  • Continued investment in forestry to maintain the urban canopy;
  • Increased number of work weeks for temporary blue-collar workers to optimize maintenance services for parks, streets, pools, machinery, snow removal, etc.

“Our city's 2025 budget has been drawn up with the objective of ensuring that the tax burden on Lambertois and Lambertoises remains reasonable despite all the headwinds. We love our city and want to ensure its long-term viability, in particular by keeping it in good financial health,” concluded Mrs. Mongrain.

The detailed budget is available in the Budget section.
