Congratulations are in order! The Ville de Saint-Lambert pays tribute to 20 of its citizens.

On November 1, 2024, Mayor Pascale Mongrain welcomed Saint-Lambert volunteers and Lambertois Merit Award recipients to an evening of recognition.

Lambertois Merit Awards

The ceremony began with the presentation of the Lambertois Merit Awards. These awards are presented to citizens whose actions instill a sense of pride that reflects on our entire community.

"On behalf of the people of Saint-Lambert, I congratulate the winners of the Lambertois awards, because their actions make us all stronger. They show us that, with determination and perseverance, we are all capable of achieving great things. They are an inspiration to those who wish to get involved in our community and surpass themselves through their talent or profession,” declared the mayor.

  1. Huguette Chartrand Copti | Lambertois in Heart and Deed: This award is presented to Ms. Chartrand Copti in recognition of her volunteer commitment to promoting and recognizing Saint-Lambert's historic heritage.
  2. Betty-Jo Christiani | Lambertois Award in the “Culture” category: Ms. Christiani receives this award in recognition of her actions to promote both the love and learning of music, particularly choral singing.
  3. Sushil Handa | Lambertois in Heart and Deed:This award is presented to Mr. Handa in recognition of his sustained volunteer involvement in social and environmental causes over more than 40 years in our community.
  4. Michel Mailloux | Lambertois Award in the “Professional Life” category: This award is presented to Mr. Mailloux in recognition of his book on financial robots and artificial intelligence, which earned him the distinction of being the first Canadian to receive a Turgot Prize, which honours the best books on financial economics.
  5. Luc Tittley | Lambertois in Heart and Deed: Mr. Tittley receives this award in recognition of his sustained volunteer involvement for the well-being of his community.
  6. Yann-Mathieu Szigeti-Pouplot | Lambertois Award in the “Sport” category: This award is given in recognition of his exceptional performance in pétanque, which led him to be named Champion of the Americas.
  7. Spontaneous citizen mobilization | Special mention: A special mention goes to the citizen mobilization initiated by Mr. Herman Champagne and Mr. Louis-Michel Raby, following the theft from the Grande Guignolée des médias de la Rive-Sud warehouse in December 2023. Thanks to a special collection organized by the group, the organization received all the donations and foodstuffs it needed, and more, to meet the demand.

Tribute to volunteers

The evening continued with the unveiling of the 2024 Volunteers of the Year, whose exceptional dedication over the past year deserves recognition.

"Without our volunteers, our city would not be the same. Their contribution reflects a community culture imbued with altruism. The time and effort they devote are indispensable to the vitality of our community and our organizations. The purpose of this evening is precisely to show our appreciation and thank them for their volunteer work, which makes such a difference to the well-being of their fellow citizens,” explained Mrs. Mongrain.

  1. Sylvain Séguin, Saint-Lambert Baseball Association: Sylvain Séguin has made a positive impact on the association through his many involvements over the years. His actions, particularly as head coach, enable many young people to develop together in a safe, formative and fun way.
  2. Natalie Lemieux, À la Fortune du pot: As president of the board of directors of the À la fortune du pot organization, Nathalie Lemieux is deeply committed to ensuring that the Vieux Saint-Lambert farmers' market runs smoothly.
  3. Liette Michaud, Association des femmes diplômées des universités - Montérégie: A founding member in 2018 and president for the past six years, Liette Michaud takes the association to heart! In addition to the already important tasks related to the presidency, she has taken it upon herself to write the Infolettre since January 2020.
  4. Marie-Michèle Johnson, Saint-Lambert Soccer Association (ASSL): Marie-Michèle Johnson has been a volunteer with the ASSL for over 10 years. Initially a coach, Ms. Johnson is now working to re-establish the women's side of the club.
  5. Christian Viau, Ligue de balle-molle 40 ans et plus de Saint-Lambert: This year, Christian Viau celebrates 30 years of existence of the league he has managed for 25 years for the love of this sport. Over the years, Mr. Viau has worked tirelessly to make the league a structured and credible organization.
  6. Mike Davidson, Saint-Lambert Lawn Bowling Club: Mike Davidson is rigorously involved in lawn maintenance and wherever else he can be of service. An organized, responsible volunteer, he's always on top of problems and in solution mode.
  7. Marcel Bouvier, Saint-Lambert Curling Club: Marcel Bouvier is part of the team that makes and maintains the ice. Mr. Bouvier has extensive technical knowledge, which he applies to his tasks in order to make processes more efficient.
  8. Nancy Carter, The south shore university women’s club (SSUWC): Nancy Carter worked hard, between 4 and 6 hours a day, to organize the 2024 book sale. Without her advice and knowledge, the book sale could never have gone as smoothly as it did.
  9. Lorraine Guillet, Photo-Club ARÉMAC: A member since 1984, Lorraine Guillet has held various positions on the club's board of directors over the years. Her contribution has been an important factor in making the organization what it is today.
  10. Nathalie St-Onge, Club de water-polo Les Tornades: Nathalie St-Onge is much more than a parent than just a parent in the club; she embodies the spirit of community and commitment. She combines youth programs and as a member of the Board of Directors.
  11. Christian Barrette, Saint-Lambert Choral Society (posthumous): It is with great emotion and gratitude that the Saint-Lambert Choral Society wishes to pay tribute to the memory and work of one of its great volunteers, photographer Christian Barrette, who passed away on June 24.
  12. Mathilde Singer, Préville Fine Arts Centre: Mathilde Singer's participation in the choir, good humour, positive energy and dedication to her role as secretary to the Board of Directors are exemplary.
