Just over a year after the groundbreaking ceremony, the Ville de Saint-Lambert inaugurated the complete redevelopment of Logan Park. The event was attended by Mayor Pascale Mongrain, Marc-André Petit, Assistant General Manager of the Centre de services scolaires Marie-Victorin, a financial partner in the project, and Isabelle Poulet, member of the National Assembly for Laporte. They were accompanied by Ms. Josée Lalumière, principal of Saints-Anges elementary school, municipal councillors Liette Michaud and Virginie Dostie-Toupin, Pierrick Bazinet, president of the Fondation éducative La petite École (FÉPÉ), and municipal employees involved in the project.
Taking into account comments received during public consultations, the new Logan Park will better meet the needs of children from Saints-Anges elementary school, as well as all families in the community. Completely redeveloped, it features new play modules, including psychomotor courses, modern street furniture and new grass surfaces.
“Beyond correcting major inconveniences, such as the lack of drainage, no detail was left to chance to make the use of this park optimal for all age groups who use it, for many years to come,” explains Pascale Mongrain, Saint-Lambert's mayor. “What's more, the excellent collaboration between the community and the public authorities involved in this project throughout is without doubt an essential element in its success. We can be proud of this and draw inspiration from it for our future projects,” she adds.
“The redevelopment of Logan Park represents a wonderful opportunity for our students at École des Saints-Anges to enjoy a safe and stimulating outdoor environment. This collaboration with the City of Saint-Lambert is a perfect illustration of our shared commitment to the well-being and overall development of our young people. We are convinced that this park will become a privileged place of learning and recreation for future generations,” says Gaëlle Absolonne, General Manager of the Centre de services scolaires Marie-Victorin.
Work carried out
The work was mainly divided into three areas: a new play area near the school, the existing play area and a slide mound. To complete this project, the following actions were carried out:
- new drainage in the park;
- replacement of lighting;
- trail development;
- construction of a new slide mound; Installation of new play modules, including a new zone;
- addition of street furniture;
- replacement of sand (which attracts a lot of wasps) with mulch;
- planting of several trees and development of a flower meadow.
The City of Saint-Lambert invested $1.2 million and the CSS Marie-Victorin $480,000, including $135,000 for the purchase and installation of play modules. The CSS Marie-Victorin also invested in the creation of an outdoor classroom.
