The Ville de Saint-Lambert will be conducting smoke tests on the sewer system in certain streets
Published on 28 Nov 2024
The Ville de Saint-Lambert wishes to inform residents that it has mandated the firm EnviroServices to conduct smoke tests on the sewer system. These tests will be carried out on Tuesday, December 3, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., in the following sector:
- Berkley (between Logan and Desaulniers)
- Mortlake (between Desaulniers and Green)
- Putney (between Desaulniers and Green)
- Brixton (between Smiley and Logan)
The aim of these tests is to detect any reverse connections. All residents concerned will receive a door hanger informing them of the situation.
If weather conditions are not favorable, the work will be postponed to a later date. A new notice will be sent if necessary, before the tests are resumed.
Smoke tests:
- The operation consists of propelling smoke into the sewer system.
- This smoke is not likely to enter homes, unless there is a defect in the plumbing system, which would cause odours during the work.
- Smoke cartridges produce white smoke that is NON TOXIC and does not stain.
- People with respiratory problems may be bothered by smoke inhalation.
- If smoke enters your home (basement and garage), close the opening or drain with a wet cloth or pour in a liter of water and immediately notify the ENVIROSERVICES representative who will be present OUTSIDE.
- As there are often many places where smoke escapes, and as these tests are short-lived, each source of smoke must be photographed for reporting and compilation purposes.
Thank you for your cooperation!
