Preparation and maintenance of skating rinks
Outdoor skating rinks are sensitive to weather fluctuations. Ice conditions may vary over the course of a single day. Before the ice can be prepared at the beginning of the season, three conditions must be met:
There must be less than 10 cm of snow on the ground;
The temperature must remain below -7 °C for three consecutive days;
There must be no precipitation during the work.
After a day of warmer weather or rain, it may take be necessary to apply several thin layers of water to rebuild a safe and solid ice surface. Watering in the evening or at night is best, as the sun slows the process in the daytime. The temperature must also drop below -7 °C for the ice to freeze properly.
This means that it may take a few days before conditions allow crews to restore the quality of the ice surface. Thank you for your understanding!
Cross-country skiing, winter walking and snowshoeing
The Ville de Saint-Lambert offers groomed cross-country ski trails on the two local golf courses to encourage everyone to get out and enjoy this great winter sport! Trails are also specially planned for walking or snowshoeing. The trails are suitable for all levels.
The tracks are prepared as soon as the weather permits and are maintained throughout the season based on forecasts. We count on your collaboration to be able to maintain a high quality service.
